CH7. Miscellaneous
---------
CH1. INSTALLATING AND PLAYING CHS QUAKE
---------------------------------------
* First make a directory under your QUAKE directory named 'CHS'
(e.g. C:\QUAKE\CHS\)
* Unzip CHS_xx.ZIP into the 'CHS' directory that you have just created
* Go back into your QUAKE directory and run Quake by typing:
'QUAKE -GAME CHS +MAP CHS' (without the quotes)
* You should now be in the game... if you are having troubles, feel
free to email me (my address is below)
* Note: you cannot use two patches at once (e.g. '-GAME CHS -GAME
RPBOT' is not allowed. See below for 'Bot information)
* Further Note: This patch has only been tested with Quake
version 1.06. If you are using a previous version then I recommend
that you download the official Q101-106 patch.
* Yet Another Note: This patch has NOT been tested with GLQuake by me
although a friend of mine (David Perry) assures me that it works.ss
---------------------------------------
CH2. PLAYING DEATHMATCH CHS
---------------------------
The Camberwell High School level was really intended for deathmatch
and not single-player games. To run a standard deathmatch game, make
sure that you type '-GAME CHS' on the command-line. You must also load
the map 'CHS.BSP'. If you are having troubles starting a deathmatch
game, feel free to email me.
To play Deathmatch CHS with Psycho-Quake (another one of my Quake
mods) simply type: deathmatch 24x at the console (replace x with either
1 or 2 which is the deathmatch version that you like. For example,
deathmatch 242 will run Deathmatch version 2 with Psycho-Quake)
---------------------------
CH3. PLAYING QUAKEWORLD CHS
---------------------------
I have tried to make Camberwell High School completely QuakeWorld
compatible although it doesn't work 100% perfectly with Psycho-Quake
in this version (this probably won't bother you though). To set up
a Quakeworld server to run Camberwell High School, enter the following
commands (on the server):
gamedir chs
sv_gamedir chs
map chs
** (note that QuakeWorld IS case-sensitive)
When the clients connect to your QuakeWorld server they should
not have any troubles (as long as they have the CHS patch installed)
Note: this has only been tested with QuakeWorld server version 2.10.
Playing Psycho-Quake on QuakeWorld is a bit of a pain really. If
you always use Deathmatch version 2 (my personal favorite) running
Psycho-Quake is as simple as adding the line 'deathmatch 242' before
the 'map chs' line. Other deathmatch versions (1, 3-5) are not
currently supported by Psycho-Quake-CHS.
---------------------------
CH4. PLAYING CHS WITH 'BOTS
---------------------------
CHS was never really designed with 'Bots in mind ('Bots are
computer-controlled deathmatch opponents) however it can be done.
Simply type: 'QUAKE -GAME RPBOT +MAP CHS' (replace RPBOT with the
name of your 'Bot directory). There will not be any students in
the game and Quake will report a few errors when you load the level,
but don't worry about this!
---------------------------
CH5. VERSOIN INFORMATION (AND HISTORY)
--------------------------------------
Current version: 1.0 (released: 12th April, 1998)
- First release with many known bugs.
- Textures still need a lot of work
- QuakeWorld support is not fully functional
(applies to Psycho-Quake only)
- This version should be considered to be
a beta release.
I wish to add the following in later versions:
- Generally improved level design and textures
- Support for enabling/disabling the students
- Full Psycho-Quake support
There are no previous versions of Camberwell High School.
--------------------------------------
CH6. CONTACTING THE AUTHOR/DOWNLOADING A NEWER VERSION
------------------------------------------------------
I can be contacted via email at:
hatty@netlink.net.au
Please email me with comments, suggestions, bug reports
or just general chat.
I also have an ICQ account (which I will only give out to
people via email) and I can be occasionally found in
NetMeeting.
I am also an active member of Team TNT (Doom project team)
and am completing my VCE (last year) at ... you guessed it ...
Camberwell High School!
Latest versions of Camberwell High School can be downloaded
from:

(simply click on the 'Camberwell High School' link)

CH7. MISCELLANEOUS
------------------
I wish to thank the following people (for the following reasons):
- Nick Body (many ideas and extensive beta testing)
- Sam Currie (ideas and beta testing)
- David Perry (GLQuake testing and general beta testing)
The following people also helped by beta testing (thanks for the
frags guys!):
David Hinchey, Lucas Kotros, David Kovic, Gavin Hayes, Andrew
Frawley, Jonathon Boyd, Dylan Hauser, Josh Clarke, Guy Martin
and Carney K.
I'd also like to thank the maker(s) of WorldCraft, QME, AdQuEdit,
QPed II, PaintShop Pro and Reaper Bot.
Also, a big thankyou to id Software for such a great game (even
though I still think that Doom is better!).
Interesting Point: This level takes 7 hours to VIS on my Pentium
133 MHz! But in the game I have never seen the frame rate drop
below 30fps in 320x200.
